Genuine Mercedes WiFi system that turns your car into a WiFi Hotspot

For the first time Mercedes-Benz is offering unrestricted wireless internet access on board their cars.

With the InCar Hotspot, data signals are received via the vehicle’s aerial allowing a much more consistent, high-speed, connection compared to standard 3G dongles.

The InCar Hotspot is a special WLAN router which, in conjunction with a data-enabled SIM card, establishes a wireless internet connection even when the vehicle is in motion.

Up to four WLAN end devices (e.g. laptop, mobile phone, iPod touch) can be connected to the internet at the same time.

The Mercedes-Benz InCar Hotspot supports the high-speed transmission standard 3G (HSDPA & UMTS) and GSM/EDGE.

The InCar Hotspot is a mobile WLAN hotspot which allows users to connect to the internet via WLAN. It is perfect for a variety of situations:

• Business trips: before a business meeting executives can use their laptop to receive and send emails or browse the internet for information about their next business partner.

• Family: children sitting in the back of the car can use the internet to chat to friends during their journey.

• Chauffeur-driven vehicles: from the airport to the hotel and then on to dinner with a business partner. En route the VIP can check the latest news and share prices via a WLAN smartphone.

• Taxi: taxi companies can offer their customers a special service, allowing them to dial into the mobile WLAN network via the InCar Hotspot.

• Developed and tested for electromagnetic compatibility with other on-board components. This compatibility is ensured by, among other things, a metal casing and well-shielded connections on the reverse.

• Thorough vibration testing ensures that the InCar Hotspot retains its full functionality over the long term, even after many kilometres on board.

• Temperature and climate tests ensure that the product can be used under difficult conditions, for example in a parked car in summer.

• Our systematic development, with numerous additional test components, ensures that the InCar Hotspot meets specific automotive requirements which ordinary consumer devices do not meet.
